Let’s discover together the steps that led me to this career
I started teaching at 17, as a private tutor. Being a teacher has always been a deep desire. After a Master's degree in Humanities, specialising in French literature, children's literature and 19th-century writers, the passion for teaching never truly disappeared. It simply led me, by unexpected paths, to where I am today.
For more than 25 years, I worked as an early childhood educator, then as a nursery director in multiple places: in Marseille, Rennes, in a Jewish kindergarten, a nursery with a large Maghreb community, a trilingual alternative Montessori-inspired school, where English, Mandarin and French were spoken
All these experiences forged my perspective on people, on pedagogy, and on the richness of cultural differences. Today, I am a trainer for early childhood educators. Also, I am doing a Master's in Education Sciences to further my professional knowledge and perfect my teaching skills.
I never consider a learner merely as a student, but as a whole person — with their individuality, their story, their doubts and their strengths. My studies in psychoanalysis help me to identify needs as closely as possible, to support each person with a precision I could not otherwise have. Concretely, this leads to lessons that are truly adapted to the learner. Take these two examples: A surgeon passionate about sailing. We worked on French through sailing in all its forms — he was thrilled. A student who arrived in tears one morning, we talked about what she was going through — all in French. Language learning does not stop at grammar.
I lived in Romania and Spain without understanding the language at first. I know what it feels like — that sensation of not grasping things, searching for words, wanting to express yourself and not quite succeeding. It is precisely this experience that allows me to understand what my learners feel and to support them with genuine empathy. I created my own French school in Spain during my stay there. Teaching French abroad is something I have carried with me for a long time.
I am curious, I love learning — and I consider myself a student too. I am currently studying English, Spanish and Romanian. I am preparing my Master's in Education Sciences and my Professional Trainer for Adults qualification. Continuing to learn is, for me, the best way to offer quality lessons — and to stay in the position of those I support.
